2018-2019 Faith Formation and Sacrament Preparation Registration
The impact our religious education programs have in forming disciples remains a core focus for our parish. Religious Education (Faith Formation, Edge) and Sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation/First Communion) classes for 1st-8th grade will take place on Sundays from 3:30pm to 4:45pm to adapt to the needs of our families. This update will allow for the following:
1. Attentive Student
Receive a more focused child that is not distracted by the school day
2. Parent Involvement
More parents to be a part of their child’s faith formation on and off campus
3. Minimal Obligations
Reduced weekday extracurricular conflict
4. Celebrating the Mass
A convenient way for families to attend Mass together immediately following class at 5:00pm
5. Sunday Focus
We hope this change will encourage Jesus’ instructions of keeping holy the Sabbath
We hope to provide opportunities for our youth to encounter Jesus and become missionary disciples by learning about their faith in both a classroom setting and small disciple group setting.
How do we plan to do this?
1st graders We are excited to introduce our new 1st grade Faith Formation program, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. This Montessori influenced method brings a beautiful new way for our 1st graders to have a hands-on encounter with Jesus. One of the essential components of this program is the space, called the Atrium. Due to the size and elements of the Atrium, our class has a maximum capacity of 18 students. At this time our campus only has one Atrium, and we have reached our 1st-grade class limit for the 2018-2019 school year. We hope to continue to grow this program. Thank you for your patience and support as we do so. We apologize to any families that are unable to register your 1st grader for this year but look forward to having your child join us next year in our First Reconciliation and First Communion sacrament prep program.
2nd graders (First Reconciliation and First Communion) will participate in our new sacrament preperation program. Click the button below to learn more.
3rd-5th graders will begin their class in a classroom as traditionally done. The last 15 minutes of class will be spent in small groups facilitated by a teacher but mainly comprised of student discussion. It is our hope that this will enhance their growth as disciples and community.
6th-8th grade Edge is a middle school Catechetical Formation Program designed to meet the psychological, social, catechetical and emotional needs of middle school students. Our goal at Sacred Heart is to allow our middle schoolers to begin the steps to start the journey of taking ownership of their faith and to build a strong community around them. 9th-12th grade Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church. Click the button below to learn more.
