Praying into Grow
Day One: 2 Peter 3:18
“Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord,” John ends his letter by encouraging stability in the Christian life by growing in deeper knowledge of Jesus. His teaching and that of the Church bring stability. How do you see Jesus and His Church as the rock that is stable for you amidst an unstable world?
Day Two: 14 Psalm 25:4-5
“Make known your ways to me Lord, teach me your paths.” Jesus’ disciples called him “Rabbi” which means teacher. He speaks to us through Scripture and through the Church that is led by the Spirit. Where in your mind or heart is there hesitation or doubt that Jesus speaks through Scripture or the Church? Once identified, ask God for an increase in Faith in that area.
Day Three: Ephesians 4:11-16
“That we may no longer be infants” Paul describes a maturing of faith that doesn’t get swept away by new ideas of human trickery. Do you see your faith as that needs constant nurturing? How do you practically cultivate your faith?
Day Four: 16 Romans 15:1-6
“We might have hope” Scripture and healthy community life build up hope and encouragement. We need others to grow and thrive. The Church is the body of Christ with many parts that are you and me. Pray about your current support system, do they encourage your faith? Ask the Lord to send you companions that will support you along the way.
Day Five: 17 1 John 4:1
“test the spirits”, The Church understands that there are false prophets in the world who’s design is to lead us astray. John says we are to prayerfully discern the voices and nudging we feel in our head and heart. Do you believe that there is a force at war with your spirit? How could this encourage you to learn more about discerning good spiritual promptings verses evil ones?
Day Six: 18 Ephesians 3:14-21
“Comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth of God,” St. Paul desires a fullness of God to be experienced by us. This certainly implies a growing. In what areas of our life do we feel we need more of God? Can we ask God for that this day?
Day Seven: 19 Colossians 2:4-8
“So as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him, rooted in him and built upon him” There are so many empty sources of information that we consume each day about people that fascinate us. Twitter, Instagram, world news and the like are among these. How often do we seek to know the person of Jesus. Can we read the Gospels and ask ourselves what is Jesus like? What moves his heart? Who does he associate with? Pray for the grace to be more interested in Jesus.
