Encounters Change Hearts
Pope Francis recently said that he is calling “all Christians everywhere at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting Him encounter them.” We can hear the Pope’s heart and genuine rally cry for Christians to come in close to the heart of Jesus and listen to Him. Yes, to hear the heart of Jesus would be nice, wouldn’t it?
Our Encounter Nights are specifically aimed at allowing space for us to lean in and listen to the heart of Jesus. We will begin the night with praise and worship which opens, directs, and lifts our hearts to God. This opening prepares us to hear Jesus’ heart through the Word of God that will be shared with us through a message given to us by a presenter. Finally, we will have a chance to sit with others in silence and song as we spend intimate time with Jesus in His exposed Eucharistic presence.
St. John Paul II said, “an encounter with the Lord brings about a profound transformation in all who do not close themselves off from him.” Join us as we offer our mind and heart to Jesus that He may effect a change in us. I encourage you to bring your desires, aches, and pains to Jesus, the ultimate healer, who knows our heart’s desire and wants us to find rest in Him. Jesus told His disciples “Come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).”
