Staying Close to Jesus
I’m writing this parish update on a bus ride to the airport with 19 missionaries from our parish. In the routine of life, they have chosen to give of themselves to serve others in the name of Jesus. They are not theologians or ordained ministers, but they are men and women who have come to know Jesus and want to share Him with others. I’m inspired by their choice and look forward to sharing this mission with them.
As our parish continues to grow and listen to the call of Jesus, this August we will be presenting another way to enter into the Parish Life Cycle called Alpha. Alpha is a small group discussion based course that presents the history and teachings of Jesus in a very dynamic way. This course is accessible to all, and I encourage everyone to participate.
As we encounter Jesus, He shows us the beauty of life and how we can better live in this beauty. Inevitably, once we taste more, we will want to share it with others. I don’t know what will be in store for us in Honduras. The disciples didn’t know what lies ahead of them as they were sent out. However, what I do know is that I want to be with Jesus in whatever is encountered. I want to be listening to the Spirit prompting me. I want to be dependent on the Father. This disposition will keep everything in perspective. This disposition will help me and help us grow in Christian maturity.
